Thanks, Binners, but all the credit goes to Armex and its owner, Alan Phelps. It really was a fantastic gesture and one that will have a genuine benefit to those children. Here's the story as published.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE
It was my complete privilege to represent the UK shooting industry, recently, as I handed over the keys to a 15-seater minibus, kindly donated by Armex. The handover took place at Langley Primary School in North Birmingham, which specialises in the teaching of children with a range of special needs.
There are 120 pupils at Langley and the school’s dedicated staff work tirelessly to provide their pupils with productive learning experiences, many of which take place outdoors in Langley’s ‘Forest School’.
What an absolute delight it was to see children actively encouraged to explore the outside world, and the school’s woodland border has been beautifully exploited to provide wonderful things such as a ‘mud kitchen’, various wildlife observation stations, a fire pit, and above all, the appreciation of their environment beyond the classroom.
These children don’t fear the great British weather, either. If it’s raining, on go the waterproofs and wellies, and out they all go. It’s an uplifting, refreshing and totally joyous place to be, and those qualities go with the pupils and staff on their frequent educational excursions, where knowledge and minds are broadened and educational fun is experienced at every turn. The donated minibus will be a great help to Langley School and full thanks go to Armex owner, Alan Phelps, for his kindness and generosity. What a fantastic gesture, to a truly inspirational school.
