Both fantastic rifles both as accurate as each other.
IF I had to choose between them I would choose the HW97k but in a shorter stock not the thumbhole.
Or just get both.
I'm having a dilemma after owning a few 77's and a good combination of different 97k's I've got hold of a. 177 kt but am finding it lacklustre and was wondering how these compare to the hw98's as I think I may just need a change of rifle type to give me the wow feel. Can anyone give me any thoughts on the performance and what to expect in accuracy between the two.

I have both and if you like the ease of loading go with the 98 if you like the heavier rifle go with the 97, either is good.
Just remember if you are hunting (ie proper shooting) the 98 is a lot louder....

Its funny but I used to own a nice 98 .177 in a CS lefty thumbhole but sold it. It did shoot great though and I sometimes regret parting with it "as you do".
They are sometimes are criticised for being front heavy but just recently, I had the pleasure of scoping in my good friend Johnbaz's 98 and it felt nice and light really, not the gun I remember at all !
A terrific air rifle and maybe one day I'll buy another !
