Many thanks guys, a few to have a look at. All seem to fit the bill which may be an issue as he's only having one!

Now to find a suitable scope... I'll wait 'till we decide on the rifle before starting another thread

    Thanks

Rather than the usual (expensive) suspects have a look at the SMK PR900W.
Really light and with open sights.
    Single and multi shot.
    Under £250 new.

If your lad doesn't take to shooting its a great fun gun for older shooters.

I like mine and would have been over the moon with it when I was a teenager.
Been reliable for a year now too!

The SMK Victory PR900W light, trigger can be adjusted and works well not expensive , the only downfall is that you need to fill them after 30 shots but they can be fill easy with a pump. I have tested a number in .22cal they have been set at 11.5ft lbs after about 30 shoots then the power drops dramatic every shoot after , i then used a pump to refill and i found it only took 25 pumps to get it to the fill pressure

Mine is .22 and 11 + ft lbs with AA pellets.
Odd that Daystate and HW can't do it these days.

If you can find one, a Benjamin P-rod would be my choice, nice and light, good 2 stage trigger, reliable 8 shot mag and about 30 shots per fill.
