    New Airgun Shooter magazine

Anyone else read the new Airgun Shooter magazine this month? I'm impressed, although Ian Barnett is missing and he's always been my favourite writer. It reads more 'mature' and there's less hunting porn stories.

Most interestingly is that they are vowing to independently review rifles, rather than the usual every rifle is amazing slant you get to keep sponsors happy. They've scored each rifle they've played with. This includes the Daystate Saxon as a 83 and Brocock Compatto a 87!

I'm currently going through a resurgence in air gun magazine interest, and Airgun Shooter is one I've subscribed to. The hunting stories interested me when I was young, and John Darling is, and always will be The Man in that regard. Nowadays its more about new kit and old guns, plus a look through whats doing what price-wise out there.

    Score

Why can't they mark them out of TEN??

It's like on radio 4 some bloke was on talking about some course he did and came second with a score
of 99.5 with the winner scoring 99.7 !!

Which in real terms means 5 out of ten and seven out of ten .

    Tis a mockery !!

I find this constant decimalisation in maths frankly offensive.

Why can't these reviews be scored overall out of a gross?
A dozen catagories, with a maximum of a dozen points in each?

    Sounds good to me???

How many sheep in a gross ?

What is your rating out of a score for a "Molly" ?

Apparently it was Ian's decision, not the editor's.

After Nigel left they seemed to substitute guns for pictures of dead rats, birds etc I wondered if they were trying to set a record. It was rather like buying a car mag and finding it full of pictures of road kill. I think they have got over this stage now but haven't yet seen this months edition.
