    Sash cramp spring compressor

For those who haven't tried it, a sash cramp with some kind of "keep the rifle in place" arrangement is a great spring compressor. Here's mine:

Re sash clamp, I use a T bar type which can lock into a Workmate or similar vice.

This is the one I got. Excellent for under £15 http://www.toolstation.com/shop/p63897?table=no
I made some blocks for either end of the rifle, I just need to do some side blocks now.
Shooting Air Rifles is like being a pubic hair on a toilet seat.
Eventually someone comes a long and P's you off.
    They usually have a PCP

I like that - a very neat and minimal way to do it.

Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

How do you people find the best way to do it with a rifle with a threaded end cap i.e. HW80

Remember trying to do a FAC HW80 and trying to get the spring in was a right PITA, especially since I haven't got much weight to put behind it!

    Hi,
Your setup is somewhat along the lines of mine which I use for my Webley Patriot; however, I find that large nylon adjustable cable ties (7.6mm wide) enable you to tighten better than rope. When finished cut them and throw away.
    Cheers

    Peter
