The pistons are very different; the HW55 piston weighs 23 grams less, and restricts the length of mainspring by 12.4mm, neither of which are a problem at 7.5J. The transfer port diameter of the '55 is 4mm against the 3mm of the '50.

And the 55 has differences in the Rekord trigger to the 50.

    HW50 and HW50s

These two are part of my collection, late 70's air rifles I guess and appear to be totally different. The HW50 has a lovely hogs back stock with no recoil pad, does this make it a Mark 1?

The first rifle in the pic is a MK1 HW50 the HW50S you have is a later version.

The early HW50S looks the same as yours & has the Rekord trigger fitted with no safety catch & a leather piston seal.

    Not sure if it's a Mk1

Spotted this earlier whilst surfing local shops

    http://www.livens.co.uk/index.asp?selection=Air%20Guns

Scroll down to the HW50 which is 6th from bottom of the list.

Looks quite nice and might be a nice heads up for someone

I have no idea if it's still for sale just purely spotted it online.

Skint and no cabinet space, so frustrated!

    Ooops sorry Tone

If you need it checking out Burton isn't too far from mine

I'm tempted myself but I'm having to strictly rein in the funds

sold all my pcp stuff now and dropping back down to a boinger which should be in my possession shortly.

Mmmm.....doing my head in here, Nick.

I KNOW I shouldn't, I really shouldn't. Dosh is tight and the alternator's just gone on the Vito, too!

And I have no spare cabinet space.

But I've wanted one for a long, long time.

And it's Burton on Trent, right? Which is where one of the step-daughters lives.

Could do with ringing them tomorrow to see if it's the earlier one with screw in end block, but I'll be at work.

Erm, erm, er......suppose they might hold on a phone call, then pay by card over phone and get step-daughter to collect?

Anyone else thinking it's the earlier one?

    Er, er.......

And I haven't bought a gun this year (yet).......

    Tony,
If you look closely it looks like there is a line where an end block joins the cylinder. Could the distinctive safety arrangement tell anyone if it is an early, mid or late version for you?
