Cool Sussex Interclub HFT 2017 - Round 2 Results

    Hi Everyone

What a difference a day (ok, well, two weeks) makes.

After overnight rain, we were greeted at Ford Ranges by a completely blue sky and not a bluebell in sight. However, Richard and the Ford gang had ordered up some very Fordie breeze and it was delivered in spades; sometimes.

Some targets I gave a dot, wondering if that would be sufficient, and it took NOTHING. On the next target I’d try ½ to ¾ and it took nearly two. Doh! And again, and again.

This is undoubtedly reflected in today’s scores across the board. Not sure if 53 sets a new low top score, achieved magnificently by Andy and Kev. I am absolutely certain that only 4 results (out of 71) in the 50s and an average of just 40.4 are records we may not see again.

Put it this way, my stock of Clear Round Badges felt very safe in their bag at the end of today’s comp.

Here is the full set of results …..

After today’s pre-shoot rules briefing, a number of people fell foul of infringements. Some were disqualified for failing to check that their card had been signed by a Witness before handing in to the stats crew and at least one had points deducted for failing to get actual or apparent changes to their scores signed off by a Marshal while out on the course. I feel personal responsibility for one of these (Mystic Greg's DQ) as he's quite new to the game and neither of his shooting buddies (VG and myself) signed off his card . Just guessing that he'll seek other partners in future rounds.

Please let me know a.s.a.p. if you spot anything you think is amiss. Have I misspelt any of our newcomers names? Have I put you in the wrong class? Let me know if you spot anything wrong. BBS PM or email should do the trick.

    Prize drawer winners today were:

    • Lisa Bowell – the £35 cash prize,
    • Anthony Leonard – the Air Arms goody bag

A significant shuffle for Teams today. Total team member scores and cumulative points won are :
    Club Round 2 Points
    Meon Valley 239 23
    Buxted 247 21
    Oaks 231 21
    Horsham 233 18
    Maldon 110 17
    Iden Fern 216 16
    Ford 216 13
    Swallows 204 12

Both MAD (with no one present) and Swallows FTC had to rely on assistance from our rule which allows up to 3 cards drawn at random – from those NOT in their own club’s team – for the shortfall of numbers.

Happy and safe shooting to you all ahead of round 3 of the 2017 SIHFT, which is in two weeks’ time on the 30th May at Horsham.

Best wishes to those fearless souls heading in to the Welsh valleys next weekend for Round 1 of this year’s UKAHFT

    Wow indeed.

Ford lived up to its wind blown reputation, with no prisoners being taken today. When I woke up at 4:00am listening to the rain I thought water would be our enemy. On arrival there was a light breeze and I wondered whether we would see some high scores. The sun came out and then...all hell broke loose

As the shoot progressed the number of threats to my personal security increased. Even the kind, gentle Barbara asked me "Did you set this course Richard?" in a tone so sinister I had to ask Gary for another sweetie.

Glad to have been part of history

Thank you all for coming, we hope you enjoyed it.

After getting smacked in the mush by a shooting mat, a gun bag, a pellet pouch, smelling the same fart 15 times and suffering 3rd degree wind-burn ,today was literally quite a breeze

    Well done to all.

I had heard rumours that Ford can be a little breezy, a little breezy !!!!!!!!!!!! what a soul destroyer that was going to start practicing in a wind tunnel for sure.
Thanks for a well set course & organisation once again.

    Roll on round 3.

Best Ford course to-date. Well done all. Would have shot well without the hurricane. I look 10yrs younger on the right side of my face after lying on the concrete. Pitty Fatty wasn't there he could have saved a fortune on the liposuction.

Thanks Fordies for a great course, have a word with the person in the wind machine, they were a bit eager today.

Great shooting Andy & Kev C.

Looking forward to the next round.

Will see some of you at Quarry National, probably in for another lesson (kicking) shooting in wind.

    Cheers everyone,

Felt rougher than andys reflection otherwise i would have been there to help miss a few!
