you never mentioned the size of the house in your post
It's not the size that counts

Got a safe suitable for about 35 pistols?

or they use a room and have a decent lock on the door unless its FAC guns then it needs a gun room built.

or a load of trigger locks

have you asked the owners? I did . I showed them it was going to be 4 holes in the wall and possibly 2 in the floor.

as long as they are filled in when you leave was the reply .n

    and I rent this place.

    They said No, sadly

Very tempted to just do it anyway, and fill the holes when I leave. They'd never know any different.

It would still only be for the shotguns though, current security is sufficient for the airguns.

its strange. I have heard of landlords saying yes to shelves and so on but not a gun cabinet. ok the holes may be bigger but if filled in when you move ,there is the same result. A filled in hole that they may never find .

Oddly enough I share this house with my wife and she does not want to have cabinets capable of holding 14 or so rifles taking up space. Half of the rifles I look after are club property and they need to have bags for when other club officers take turns at housing them.

None of my rifles are on ticket and I don't have under 18s around so I don't actually need any cabinets.

    Bags

All my rifles are bagged along with a tag with their name on them each one named rather randomly for example my Saxon is called No 62 my R10 is called Brum etc.

I converted a built in cupboard in to a rifle store room which worked well until the wife wanted it back for her clothes. Now they are stored in the loft thankfully the chap who had the house before me put a shed load of insulation down it's just the right temp for storing guns.

    Me!

I store the magazine's and pellets seperatly from the guns, make sure they aren't cocked and the safety is on and have a padlock on each of my two bags, stored under our bed where a few boxes will need to be moved to gain access to them as I have a very inquisitive 4 1/2 year old boy.

Identifying whats in your many gun bags....

.....can I suggest buying a bunch of those key fobs with a clear plastic window with card underneath. Write the name of the rifle on the key fob and attach it to the zip pull thingy on the case.
