    My SLR98

I thought people may enjoy a short video showing my absolutely beautiful Theoben SLR98. It sits in a lovely GinB stock, has an engraved GinB brass trigger guard for a little 'bling' and it has a period Simmons Whitetail Classic scope on top. A lovely gun and a real collectors piece. Unfortunately I am not a collector so I might actually swap this for something else soon.... depends if anything takes my fancy.

That's how I mount my Sightron 10 x 42 anyway, so the ridiculously big 'tactical' turret doesn't get in the way when loading from the right.

    Nice rifle
interesting how the underlever goes all the way to the end of the barrel giving more leverage.

Do you know what the stroke is it looks longish when you are cocking it.

the stroke of the piston on a 12 ft lbs theoben gas ram is 2.6 inches he or not. the diameter of the (dummy piston) or gas ram on the he model is 1/3of that of the earlier one and the pressure goes up from 300 psi non he to 750 psi he. to aghieve fac velocity the stroke is increased to3.2 inches the eliminator has a stroke of 3.7 inches all theobens after TB 6000 are HE

    Thanks for the info
66 mm then, I just thought that it might be a long stroke as it looks like a long cocking stroke in the video

It must be very little cocking effort with that long lever and long cocking stroke

Part of the accuracy is due to the consistency of the power plant. The test rifle averaged 650 fps with the 14.3 grain Premiers for an average 13.4 fpe. The highest velocity was 657 fps and the lowest was 643 fps with an overall standard deviation of 3.60. That is pretty darn good for a piston gun, I don't care who you are!

Shooting the Evolution for an extended plinking session was very enjoyable. The cocking effort of 21 lbs. was low enough so as not to tire quickly from repeated cocking. The rifle weights in a typical 7.5 lbs. so holding and carrying the rifle for an extended time was no problem. The Evolution uses a 10.5" barrel that reduces the overall length to just 38 1/2". It was pretty apparent that the rifle was shorter since the overall balance was excellent. It didn't feel nose heavy at all and pointed very well. Theoben uses Anschutz barrels for the .177 and .22 calibers and a Walther barrel is used for the .20 caliber.

if the evolution is 21lbs at 13fltbs and a 10.5 inch barrel ,the slr98 must be lower

tx200 hc in some posts are 29lbs . but they all seem to be US based comments.
