Why doesn't the HW35 gall ....?

...... as much as the HW99s?

I know they can and do gall, but they don't seem to be associated with galling to the same degree as the 99s.

I suppose I could ask the same question about the HW30s.

Because God himself thought the HW35 was such a beautifully crafted rifle, he wouldn't allow it to eat itself?...

In my experience, the 30s is far more likely to suffer from the dreaded galling issue....

Yes, stripped my new 30s yesterday for a deburr & relube and it was already showing signs of a little galling after only 3-400 pellets.
Hopefully nipped it in the bud though & it does feel better for the attention.

Don't worry - Old 30s, 35s, 50s don't gaulle - Modern ones do de gaulle.

They do but not as bad & usually after the roller on the link has worn .

On the bad ones I've had, it's the little shaft running through the roller that has worn, Mick.

Once the shaft has worn far enough the roller drops into the cocking arm and then it all starts galling on the cylinder.

Not so sure about that, Phil. I've never had an older '35 gall, but I have a feeling that the older 50 that I bought recently might be. Haven't had time to investigate yet.

The cocking arm on the 35, 50, 55 and 99 are all interchangeable but I was told the other day that the roller arm is not available as a spare but the plastic insert arms are.

So perhaps Weihrauch are moving to the plastic insert cocking arms for both the 99 and 35.

Recently renovated an old 35 that was galling due to the roller hole becoming worn causing it to drop and becoming useless. As mentioned vmac do a replacement but decided to make a nylon insert For the cocking arm out of a chopping board. Took a bit of messing to get it right but seems to be working ok and probably smoother than the roller would be.

I've come to prefer Walther's system for articulated cocking levers ie a supporting insert in the stock.

This works perfectly on my LGV.

In fact it also continues to work perfectly on my orginal LGV Spezial, which must be fifty years old.

The cocking arm on my short stocked HW30 (exposed breech block) version has a different cocking arm and does not gall ....at least not after 14 years ....why ever did they change it.
Can you not obtain early version cocking arms.
On closer inspection the arm does not touch the air cylinder and is thinner in section.
Perhaps in deciding to beef the arm up a bit it now reaches the cylinder ..

I think you will find that they made a small changed to the shape of the cocking arm, why i dont know but since then they had a problem with some guns.

The 35 I liberated of an old mate was in a terrible state ,worn pin on the roller , put a nylon insert in much better
