Tone, just logged on for the first time in a while and read all of the above. My thoughts are with you and the family for a good outcome, never easy when a young one's involved, hopefully a corner's been turned and young Frankie's going in the right direction.

Hope to see you at the Bash amigo.

Again, rather than replying individually to each message, I thought it better to post here.

The last two days haven't been so good.

On Tuesday afternoon she seemed to be sliding downhill, which we put down to exhaustion and not getting any proper rest with the nurses doing obs through Monday night and having to move her regularly as the epidural was making her legs go numb. Earlier in the day her Oncology consultant had been in and informed us that one of the earlier blood test results for cancer markers had come back. One high and one normal. And she was being quite guarded, not her usual super-positive self.

However, yesterday, her registrar came in. When quizzed, she told us that those two markers were from the tests done last week and thst the high marker simply confirmed that it was definitely the ovary, as per various scans, which is why we got the phone call on the way home on Friday to get the tumour removed on Monday. So, that made us feel a whole lot better. We're still waiting on further blood test results and results from studying the tumour. Some further news tomorrow, some after the weekend.

Fingers crossed, if these all go our way and nothing has spread etc., it might just entail some chemo to fully zap it and make sure.

They removed the epidural yesterday and she was in loads more pain. They reduced the IV fluids and increased the IV morphine. The only thing with this is thst she gradually went further down hill by early evening. Then she was sick numerous times. We kept telling the nurses, but they all seemed very laid back about it all and not that bothered. Since the op she's been on a surgical, as opposed to Oncology ward. We asked whether it might be the morphine not agreeing with her and also explained that she had not wanted to drink or eat anything yesterday. By about 9.30 last night we were getting more pee'd off with their attitude. I rang Oncology and explained our concerns. Within minutes the Nurse in Charge appeared, with a much more urgent demeanor. Plus an anaesthetist, who said we could switch from the morphine to a similar drug which may suit better. Fluids turned up, too. And Mrs Arsey Pants Nursey also suddenly seemed more efficient in her duties and attitude. When I left at about 11.00 last night, she was asleep and looking more comfortable.

Hopefully when I arrive today my little warrior will have improved again.

Losing track of time here a little. Is it 16 sleeps to go?
Seems like it's the same everywhere, we battled and battled with the health authority to get stuff done with wren. Gp's before hospital & the nurses in hospital Wer often of a "la,la, everything is fine" attitude. That's why it took 2months for them to send her to the pediatrician who promptly sent her to the oncology ward at Bristol royal infirmary with suspected leukemia! only just in time I reckon too...She didn't have leukemia as it turned out, but she had something else just as bad. Given another week & I reckon her story would have been very very different.
Keep battling tone & don't let your hunches go unheard, because at the end of the day it doesn't matter if they think your a C***, if it saves your daughters life the so what!!!
Hang in there Mr, can't wait to give you a hug

The new IV drug, OxyCodeine (or something like that) does seem to be suiting her better and, as yesterday went on, she made a marked improvement. Fingers crossed that this improvement has continued. Later yesterday she was also stood for a few seconds and managed a very small walk across her room. The IV may be coming off today - everything else already removed. So, hopefully we're over the worst and the focus is on recovering from the surgery and building her strength up ready for the next stage which will be dictated by the test results. Apparently one or two of these are expected today, others next week.

Thanks for the virtual Man hugs by lovely people and can't wait for the real versions!
Good for her & you!! Keep going Mr,

    Thank you, peeps.

Okay. She's home and looking a little perkier.

This little bundle of skin and bone needs to rest and build herself up. She's eating fine and mum's been buying and making lots of her favourite food so, hopefully, she'll get stronger and stronger each day.

Going by the results so far, it's a germ cell tumour, so the best possible outcome. And when they did the operation, they removed the fluids that surrounded the tumour - all clear.

So, looking good. We have an appointment with the Oncology people on Wednesday when they will have more of the results back. There is a chance that it's all gone and that no further intervention will be required, but we'll see on Wednesday. We did speak with one of the student nurses who was looking after Frankie when she was on the Oncology ward just over a week ago, and she sort of tried to temper the short term euphoria and warned against counting those chickens too soon. So, we're being realistic, but ever so hopeful.

Thanks for all the lovely messages, peeps.

Sounds as good as it could Tony. Cautious optimism is never a bad plan. Sending those positive waves up north. I am sure Frankie will be Boinging back.
