I know what you mean. I have a 430. It's the shortness of the cocking arm that makes for more pressure when cocking it. My 48 is a doddle in comparrison with its long sidelever. Even my AR8 Blaser N-TEC takes more effort to cock in its Compact Pro config than the standard long barrel version. You'll just have to man up to the task.
I suppose a thinner wire spring, allowing for a couple of extra coils, so it doesn't become coil bound might help. Couldn't tell which one though, as I use mine as it came putting out 11.2fpe.

I took out the transfer port restricter on my 430 and fitted a weaker Spring from a smk 208, now easier to cock and doing 10.7fpe, nicer to shoot overall.

That makes sense I expect they were fitted for the German market

The 440/430L should have a slightly longer lever but the position of the linkage on the lever is why it's not a light cocker, the design was for the 460 to give a short fast cocking stroke on the long piston stroke and even then the lever is only 14 ins but I guess the magnum fans in America are used to heavy cocking
    A tune should improve a 430

I made a new cocking link and moved the pivot point. Its still a nasty gun though.

How could you possible move the pivot point much without making a new cocking lever
