    Holts

I just watched the Holts auction online and the big surprise was when an internet bidder jumped in with a very high £550 bid for this nice but ordinary looking Walther LP53! There was no other interest and they probably could have had it for £250...

The Brown pistol sold for £3,000 hammer.

The Clair Freres made £1,000 hammer

The magazine-fed BSA underlever made £650 hammer

The John Zuendorff gallery gun made £1,000 hammer

The Giffard in-line pump was unsold

The ether-charged BSA underlever sold for £500 hammer

    Hi Danny,

I thought the Brown pistol did well and noted the Tell 1 sold for a reasonable £500 hammer.

    Regards

It should go nicely with my Tell II and III

Mind you, with fees, it doesn't half sting. The same pistol sold 2 years ago for £200 at auction from the David Swan collection.

Bet there's a few of us wish we could go back in time to that auction, Jim. I bought a couple then, but if I could do it again I'd probably get into serious debt.

Apparently David paid almost £1000 for it, quite a few years ago. He was obviously very keen to add one to his collection and there had been very few on the market for some years at the time. So the sting isn't as bad it might have been.

Yes, in fact I paid a lot less for that LP52 Richard!

    Must've been a Bond fanatic...
