Yes
No
I'm pretty sure there was the option years ago but porn pics or such like was posted.
Given that there has been people banned for posting links to dead stuff or pics of dead children just recently , I can see why it's not allowed to post directly to the page unless in the sales section.
Plus the mods have a hard enough time dealing with insults and hissy fit posts , approving pics will take more of their time if the clowns
post porn or dead stuff pics.
Yes we are all adults (most of us) but how many stick the rules
As they are just now for example . The swear filter , no links to dead stuff, no new items in the sales section and so on.

I'm afraid I've got no idea, barrel.
As someone who's computer illiterate I am just relaying the information given to me a while back when the gentlemen of the Collectors section posed the same question.
Personally I wouldn't be in favour of that for various reasons unless it became completely necessary to do so for the wellbeing of the forum.
And at the end of the day that decision is down to Mr Ramsbottom the site owner and no one else really.
All the best Mick
Try using this site, it's free and links can just be copied and pasted into the thread.

Don’t confuse luck with ability.
Speaking (or writing!) as an ex-admin and now member, I can see both sides of this issue.
First you have a genuine request to be able to add photos (something I agree with 100%) instead of dicking around with Photobucket etc. Then you have the extra risk this adds to idiots posting porn or some other outlawed content directly into their posts without any kind of moderation.
I'd prefer to see attachments allowed in all sections, but with the possibility of needing modding first.
Nowadays there's little genuine justification for restraints on bandwidth, what with much improved server performance being common.

I do like this forum, and would hate to see it go the way of others in history that have not kept up with the times.
I have not bothered posting so many threads here due to the picture upload restrictions, shame.
And threads etc that goto photobucket.... have you seriously tried looking at a picture on a mobile! zoom, ad, cancel, ad, zoom, ad cancel, ad, ad ,ad, crash...
There are other forums, and I know it works both ways, but if traffic there does overtake here, you have 2 choices.... please keep with the times :-)
Thanks - Geoff.
This is something we are happy to look into, as it seems to be a popular request.
Obviously, this is something that unfortunately can cause multiple problems that have been mentioned.

I think it would certainly add to the forum.
Concerns over people posting inappropriate material are unfounded in my view. There are already rules in place and the mods are quick (far too quick on occasions) to enforce them. No reason why anyone should break rules on visual content any more than any of the other rules.
Happy Shooting!! Paul.

Too right it can - we've all seen some of the Friday/Saturday night ding dongs that have got out of order.
I do think that being able to add pictures is an excellent idea and, could help enrich An already very good forum but, they would certainly need moderating/approving.
Maybe it could work a bit like a new members posts where the first few need approval before we're let lose?
Either way, good luck.
All of the above.
Thanks for considering.
I'd recommend turning embedded images on too, so that images can be shown in-line with text. It wont cost anything either - just means that you don't have to click the images to see them. Shooting The Breeze and other mainstream forums allow this.
Much more fun with pictures.
Sure that there is the odd idiot but I'm sure we would all chip in to rid ourselves of them.
Anyhow, get my vote.
It might be a crude filter, but could it be set up so that a member with say 1,000 posts is assumed to know how to behave, and those newer members would have their photo posts moderated?
The 1,000 threshold might be far too limiting; it's just the principle I'm trying to illustrate.
Of course, admin could always give or deny photo rights as an over-ride in individual cases.
When longer-serving members have pushed their luck a step too far in the past, I don't recall it ever being about photos posted.
