    I wouldn't pay £30 an hour to shoot airguns I would look for a club were you'd pay considerably less. Those events are geared towards stag events etc and won't provide you with any information regarding buying your own gun etc.
    Try these in your area I'm sure the members would be more than happy to chat with you and let you try a few guns.

    Where do I start

    As many have said, visit your local club(s).

    Any club worthy of your membership will have someone whose job is to greet, etc. prospective new members and ensure that they are made to feel welcome. ( I am one such person at my club)

    As also said, apart from club guns, once you have proved yourself a "good un", most people are only too willing for you to try their guns.
