Bsa superten safety catch not working

Hi all, just wondering if anyone knows why the safety catch on a bsa Superten wouldn't work? I have one but the safety catch is not working? is there something imperticular I should check? thanks in advance.

Is the wire link from the safety slider to the trigger unit in place correctly? Is the safety slider staying in position when the gun is cocked? Are the ball and spring in the safety slider actually retaining the slider in position?
