Mine is .22 but never tried a .177 so can't help I'm afraid. Suspect no real diff in use terms between then though.

The .177 has 2 power modes (not sure if its the same with the .22?) so i'd go for that. I find the lower power setting is great for shooting at shorter distances or indoors.
If i get the .177, do you mean if I set/cock the barrel at half then this would be half-power, and if its set fully down/across then it has full power?
The .22 also has both power modes .

I had a .22 it seemed more comfortable to shoot and less snappy than the .177 I tried. Cracking gun . Great fun to shoot. Very accurate at 10m.
Thankyou for all the replies and words of advice, im going for a .22 calibre!
Will see how i get on and might upgrade it with a scope etc once i get used to it.
Many thanks
Iv'e had both 177 & 22, preferred 22, i also have a 25 barrel for one.

I always had .177 because it has dual power settings then had a .22 barrel as a spare....just a thought!
