    Rapid MK1 block anodising.

I have a MK1 Rapid from 1996, which is in very good condition. On removal of the stock there is an area of anodising missing from the area beneath the power adjuster. I cant see how its worn as it is a none wear area, and the rest of the gun is near new. It looks like the anodising hasn't taken, almost a case of out of sight out of mind. Anyone else with a similar experience on their rapids?

    Theobens QC was pretty woeful.

Find somewhere local that offers hard anodising, soft anodise wont stand up to the wear.
A man can always use more alcohol, tobacco and firearms.

If it's directly below the adjuster screw then it's likely that someone has removed a little of the stock to get at the adjuster without removing the stock to turn power up and down.
They probably did this with the action still in the stock and damaged the metalwork.

Depending on what look you want on the action you could us something like krylon paint and either Matt black the entire action and barrel for the ttr type of look, or they might even do a shiney version and you could mask up the area you want done.

    Regards,

This is a fair size area, no damage or indeed wear. It really looks like a factory QC error as indicated earlier. The stock is completely unmolested, and being Tyrolean very comfortable.
From a practical point of view its not worth addressing as it is completely out of sight and the rest of the finish is near perfect, I just wondered if this was a common thing or not.
