I have 2 Rockmount, 1 Deben model I forget and a Cadwell. Rockmounts and the Deben are great but Cadwell I don't like the knotched legs. Never used Harris but been told bees knees and price tag to boot. Bought couple off the bay, brand cant remember too long ago and went straight in the bin so crap and flimsy. Pay the money and get good quality it's worth it.

Atlas every bit as great as advertised. They are a bipod not a benchrest contraption. I have picatinney rails fitted to 1/2 my rifles for bipod attachment.

I run two Atlas, both with extension legs.
The negatives are price and weight.

Harris bipods remain some of the very best. Like Sound Moderators there are loads of options now, some better than others. Also more specialised systems. It all really depends on what you want to do. There is nothing better than a MK1 Sandbag to build a stable gun emplacement.

    No.

Though at a tenth of the price or less, Zeadio bipods are. They really are very good. You can buy a hatful and get several different heights and tilt/non-tilt for every occaision.

Atlas are very good if you are a gear snob or insecure or a perfectionist, perhaps with more money than sense.

Just buy a Chinese knock off for £40... I've got one & it's good. I'd never buy the full priced one as I don't believe it could be worth the extra £200 . I suppose you could buy a cheap one & see if you like the mechanism then allow yourself to be raped by capitalism if you liked you never know you may even be satisfied with the cheap one!!!!

    Atlas bipod

Thanks for your replies ,it's just I have seen one advertised for £35 and thought it must be a bargain if it's genuine.I am not a target shooter and need it in the field.

Yes that's true and I've bought one for £31 ! Made in China. Took the plunge after watching the U.S reviews of the real deal vs the copy.
The copy is 75% as good as the real thing but around 8 times cheaper.
It just needed some minor tweaks with a couple of washers to stop it rotating and it's brilliant.
Also needed to attach a picitany rail to the HW100T and never looked back.

There are loads on the bay both genuine & knock off's, for £35 it's going to be a knock-off.

Personally I'd rather buy a genuine item used, than a cheap knock-off new, but more important for the field is to get a bipod with high enough legs that you can clear obstructions, long grass, get a comfortable position & still have a good range of movement for targets above, below, across slopes etc

I have tried cheap. I have tried imitations but

My Harris has seen a lot of action and NEVER missed a beat.

They are Heavy'ish. Ugly as an ugly thing that fell out of the ugly tree and hitting every branch on the way down. The pinchy clip thing is a PITA BUT.....it is built very very very well and worth every penny many times over.

Shooting is about accuracy and there are two sides to it. There is you the shooter and what you can do.

Then there is your kit and what it can do.

I fail to see the logic in buying in weak links and then putting them into your shooting platform chain.

Always buy the best performing kit you can afford even if it means buying 2nd hand. More bang for the Euro.

Buy a good rifle. Buy a good scope. Buy shite mounts!!! Buy a quality barrel....buy bulldog pellets !!!!! Get a good trigger....pour in a bag of gravel.....

Buy cheap buy twice...pay peanuts get monkeys.....vote american...get trump....

    You see my point here.
In a battle of wits I refuse to engage with an unarmed person.
To one shot one kill, you need to seek the S. Kill only comes from Skill

Well my £31 atlas clone has performed faultlessly tonight at the range helping me take out 8 shot gun shells at 100 yards with 8 JSB exacts.

Very much worth the money buying any genuine part that stops your rifle falling down, having see what happens when a knock off bipod fails and a 5k thermal scope hits the ground first or a high end Vortex don't skimp. You may not push it especially hard on an airgun, hunting recreationally compared to a keeper or contractor, but there's a reason the copies weigh less and cost less.
The toxicity of lead varies, depending upon the weight of its doseage and its velocity!
