Sussex Interclub HFT 2017 - Round 8 RESULTS

    Hi All

With thanks to Simmo and all the wee Buxtedites who set today’s SIHFT Round 8,today we learnt mostly all about the LONG and the SHORT of HFT course setting. Rarely have there been so few targets between 20 and 39 yards.

It sure made it interesting. In spite of the lack of wind (except when I shot, of course ) or too much mud, but there was dark and light (but mostly dark) and the teeniest of gaps to thread a pellet through. Who on earth dreamt up that awful thing through the pallet at close range, or the lane for which you could see just the tip of a Buxted ‘finger’ over a branch? Dastardly !!

There can be no doubt that this was reflected in the scores, with a few (very few) getting to grips with it, led by Sir Dibbens who, perhaps unfettered by a Daisy, soared to the dizzy heights of a 59 and leaving the majority to pick up Silver and Bronze Badges; just 12 golds won (and well deserved), with 9 of these going to those scoring 55 and above in Open Class, plus Junior Abi and a pair of Boingers (Kim and Nigel). 12 Golds is 2nd lowest of the year, after Round 2 at Ford in a blustery gale.

With a new caterer tracked down, the food was great too

Here is the full set of results for today' round ….. the individual tables are HERE

Please let me know a.s.a.p. if you spot anything you think is amiss. Have I misspelt any names? Have I put you in the wrong class? Let me know if you spot anything wrong. BBS PM or email should do the trick.

    Prize drawer winners today were:

    • Howard Kalish – the £36 cash prize,
    • Ivan Edmiston – the Air Arms goody bag
    • And Russ Connor won the Compair Magazine subscription

    Team Results.
Buxted stretched their lead over Meon, now 'winning' by 6 points. With only 4 in the team, Swallows FTC (who did remarkably well – all scoring 50+ - and getting lucky in the draw) and, MAD with 2 members present had to call upon the ‘free draw’ for extra cards to achieve their totals. Total team scores and cumulative points won are :
    Club Round 8 Cumulative Points
    Buxted 276 92
    Oaks 271 83
    Meon Valley 264 86
    Swallows 254 55
    Ford 243 57
    Maldon 235 61
    Horsham 227 63
    Iden Fern 220 56

Safe shooting to everyone ahead of round 9 of the 2017 SIHFT, which is in 3 weeks’ time on the 10th September when we return to Ford Ranges. Current forecast (yes, Metcheck offer day-by-day 180 day forecasts) is for 18mph East by East North Easterlies. That would be rather different as rarely do we turn up at Ford to find anything other than a sturdy South Westerly.

In the meantime, very best of shooting to all the SIHFTers, including those competing in next weekend’s events at Furnace Mill with the UKAHFT and then a week later at the Air Arms annual bash at Northall Farm. Pretty sure there are other shoots on too. Enjoy wherever you head, even if just off to the dogs

An update to the series individual table will appear soon(ish) - there have been moves at the top

Thanks Buxted for yet another brilliant course - I never, ever score well at your place, but I really love shooting there and the way you guys set your courses out.

Thanks also to Roger Dibbens for his excellent company and giving me a masterclass in how to tame a Simmo course - and bloody well done on your score of 59; absolutely outstanding!

And finally, thank you and well done to Mandy (Buxted's new caterer) for keeping us all fed with what were undoubtedly the finest burgers I've ever encountered at an HFT shoot 😀

Check done - including double check of his/your maths. 54 it is.

Agreed about Lewis (and Lewes too ) and with a 55, that was a pretty good comeback.

Thanks Hobbits, another great course. Difficult but fun.

Some tricky shoots specially the short low shoots, missed both of them

Well done Roger, cracking score. Thanks Mike and Vince for shooting with me.

Well, a fabulous day. Only bit of wind I noticed was other side of plink for 18 - I gave it a mildot for wind and she went over. This was a relief coz it was 17 before it through the concrete block white circled hole that I missed! And I know Daisy would have got it - she seems to get all the ones I miss.
Pleasure going round with you Nick - and thanks for reminding me how hard it can be recoiling - or was that 22, either way it looks bloomin difficult!
