scope recomendations

After a visit to Iden ferns HFT club I quite fancy giving it a go, I have a TX200hc and also an HW95 both superbly accurate however none of my scopes have milldot recticle's which would seem to be the way to go, (I'm a 10mtr target pistol shooter normally and whilst I have good knowledge of this area HFT is all new to me)

What scope would make a good starting point, don't want to spend a fortune until I know whether it's for me but the thought of a new challenge appeals so looking for something that will be a good starting point, work well with a springer and give me the basics to "have a go"

You may want to consider a fixed 10 mag scope. You are likely to get better glass for your money and many, including myself, use 10 mag for HFT. Not too a big objective as well so you have decent depth of field.

Ones to look at sub £200 second hand would be an MTC Viper, EB Sniper or Hawke Sidewinder.

I still have examples of the first 2 and they are very good scopes.

I'm currently using Sightron SIII's for HFT as the glass is fantastic and suits my poor eyesight. They are around £350 second hand so maybe a bit minty to start with.

Sounds like a good idea, At the moment I'm looking to participate just as a leisure activity as my competative shooting remains pistol, I would however like to put my rifles to better use & after visiting Iden Ferns it does seem a challenge that will appeal to me, I had no idea that a suitable scope would be quite the cost it appears to be, but then I guess it's all subjective, I've just spent the best part of £200 on a pistol grip which in reality is a chuck of wood (albeit very pretty and shaped to fit my hand perfectly)

The scope, once you get it right, is your greatest ally!

If you buy a new cheaper scope and find you like HFT ( I bet you will ) you will then want a better scope and will loose money on the one you bought.
If you buy, say, a second hand MTC 10x44 viper for about £120-130 and find you don't like HFT you should be able to sell it for what you paid.
