Yet another air pistol identification challenge

OK, so I said I would make it harder next time, so here is one that should give you more of a challenge (I think ).

It is, or was, a commercial item, and is not from India, or China.
Oh, and yes it is a springer. You know me, springers every time.

Intriguing looking beastly. Can I guess it is of Soviet or eastern block origins?

Heading in the right direction, but not far enough.

Is it one of the Vietnamese / Malaysian offerings which surfaced in the U.K. in the 1980s by chance?

You're on the money with Japan.

Now can anyone tell me anything about it ? (please, as the information I have is pretty sparse!)

No it was not made by Sharp, but some other company I know nothing about. (The Sharp UFP is a CO2 pistol, whereas this is a springer.)

Is it a break barrel? I can't see that it is and there appears to be some sort of button/bolt on the right side of the cylinder?

I must admit that it does look like a break-barrel, but according to the Japanese description (if Google translator is to be trusted) the spring is cocked by pulling back the side knob.

Top of the class - it is called the Falcon 077!

I did not know it was classed as an air soft, although the cocking system suggested it was always going to be low power. It threw me, as its chunky look and the lettering on the gun https://imgur.com/a/bNTdA suggests a real air pistol. I have only been able to find mention of this pistol on Japanese auction sites, and the translations of the Japanese were not very informative.

Do you have links in English which might explain how it works and what sort of fps it produces?

    Thanks,
    John

    Hi,
Now we have a name we are getting somewhere. I did an image search on "bing" typing in Falcon 077 (although I am sure google would work too). This brings up some pictures and schematics from Germany which suggests to me that this is purely airsoft. It has a rotating plastic magazine and the pictures suggests this is designed for plastic diablo style pellets. The spring looks really puny so I think it is definitely air soft only.
    Cheers
    Rich.

I wish I could claim an anorak badge but I only recognised it because a bloke in my neck of the woods recently advertised a Falcon GV-078 which has the detachable carbine stock option; I was curious enough to check the Muzzle.de entry on the 077.

From what I can gather they were made by Masudaya Modern Toys of Japan:

So that sews it all up nicely. Airsoft after all, which puts it off my shopping list. Pity, as it looks as though it could have made an interesting plinker.

    Thanks everyone for the input!
