I've just spent an hour pellet testing with the new S510 and bizarrely the JSB exacts (4.53) are an amazing amount more accurate than AA Diablo field (4.52). Not just a little bit but a lot. I find it strange when they are such a similar pellet to have this difference. At 20 yards (back garden) with the JSB's its almost pellet on pellet. With the AA's i'd be hard pushed to cover the entire 10 shot group with a two pence piece. The AA's are producing a 70 percent accuracy rate with 30 percent flyers. All the same had great fun after zeroing shooting grapes off cocktail sticks and then taking down the cocktail sticks one by one.

With JSBs Mike, it seems to have more to do with finding a batch that shoot well in a particular barrel, than the given head size.

    Some interesting reading here:

That's very interesting reading on your link. I've just ordered a couple of tins of JSB's so will be interested to see the comparison of the label numbers compared to the ones I have already. Cheers

My Crosman pistols are all keepers, Nick.

New 2240s can be had very cheaply. And, as you'll no doubt be aware, there's LOADS you can do to the 2240/1377/1322, but be careful not to get too carried away.

Does the 1377 shoulder stock fit the 2240? I'm guessing it does as they're all pretty similar in design. I can get a 2240 for €72 and a 1377 with pellets and shoulder stock for €92 but it won't be here til after xmas. Just thought I'd ask.

Yep, the stock (and many more parts) are interchangeable.

My mini-carbined 1377 (the shoulder stock, steel breech and 4x32 scope) is VERY accurate.

The shoulder stock is not grippy at the shoulder. Combined with the okay-ish, but not brilliant, standard trigger and light all-up weight, you do have to concentrate on keeping the sight picture right through the firing sequence and follow-through, but the rewards are there if you work at it. 5 shot groups at 10m barely larger than a single pellet hole.

You've "broken" TWO boingers? Very, very naughty boy....now go and stand in the corner!

Did you size the piston seal of the '98? If it was on the slack-ish side to start with, with it being so cold it may have shrunk even further, creating more clearance. Might be worth giving it a try indoors before stripping (unless you've ripped it apart already).

Top hat broken? One of Nick's? Was it really tight on the spring or something?
Well it looks like you were right about the cold weather Tony. Tried the 98 again this morning. First shot diesels then back to normal.
Its worrying that Paul did not spot this

Sacrilege! The mans a legend. I've seen him hunt rabbits with nothing more than a ten foot branch and steely eyed determination
