I'd just like to say a big thanks to Nick (Tinbum) and Dave (Trumpetier). A while ago I posted a thread asking for advise on quality budget scopes and both recommended the Hawke Airmax. Just by chance a 2-7 x 32 came up on here the other day which I purchased. It arrived today and I can safely say it is superb. Cheers chaps

Nice and compact and with a very handy and usable range of magnification.....I find 6 or 7 x mag more than ample for any of my longer range needs. And wind it down to 2x for the close up stuff. Lovely.

None of mine will be to the quality of the Airmax and I'd love to get my mitts on one, one day.

So, today I thought that rather than just turning up tomorrow at the shop (60 miles' round trip) and him not having one in and me then getting tempted by something else winking at me, I'd better ring him up and check that he had one and, if not, to get one ordered in. That'd be it then, committed and sorted.

He didn't have one in stock and was going to order it. Job done. And I 100% know that I'll love it and it'll be another HW keeper. No more messing with "compromises".

He rang and spoke to the Mrs whilst I was driving home to say that it would be two to three weeks until it arrives, but wants me to confirm that I want it. So I'll ring him in the morning and sort.

Now, with not having to drive to Lincoln that'll free a little time up. So, once I've taken care of all the little boring things I normally have to do on my day off, I'll be able to get the Supersport chrono'd. Then, at the bare minimum whip the stock off (once I've found a screwdriver that'll fit through the hole in the trigger guard) and, hopefully, strip it and give it the once over before I confirm with Uncle Mick that it's worth continuing and take up his very kind offer of the cocking link.
