Lightbulb Sussex Interclub HFT 2017 - Round 9 RESULTS

    Afternoon All

Big THANKS to what I suspect was a very small crew of Fordies who set out a challenging course for us today, made all the more confusing by turning those lanes on the concrete through 180 degrees; seemed very strange shooting toward the north west and with a wind from left to right, except when it didn’t seem to blow at all. How many points did I drop on that unforgiving surface when daring to place my crosshairs ‘just’ outside the left side of the kill, only to see the pellet land precisely there. Doh and thrice (at least) Doh!!

Just 59 brave souls (the rest had clearly looked at the forecast!) joined in the fray today. Given the conditions, knocking something over seemed all the more pleasurable but the Fordie ‘breeze’ led to the 2nd lowest top score (54) of the SIHFT 2017 season, only beaten by our last visit to Ford for Round 2 at the back end of Spring. For those of you who made an effort to forget Round 2, the top that day was 53 and with an average 5 points lower than today.

My vote for top shots of the day go to Abi – just a single point short of the top score and 2 points above her dad – and to Nick scoring 50 with a lump of a .22 pellet. Excellent shooting both of you.

For achieving their 5th Gold of the season, no fewer than 6 fresh Platinum Badges were earned today and went (excluding those who failed to hang around for the presentation) to Gary Chillingworth, Howard Kalisch, Kev Maw, Derek Watson and Juniors Abi Maw and Daisy Dibbens. Congratulations to you all.

Please let me know a.s.a.p. if you spot anything you think is amiss. Have I misspelt any names? Have I put you in the wrong class? Let me know if you spot anything wrong. BBS PM or email should do the trick.

    Prize drawer winners today were:

    • Nick Byrne – the £30 cash prize,
    • Charlie Grey – the Air Arms goody bag
    • And Jean Greatrex won the Compair Magazine subscription

With Buxted taking 5 of the top 7 places, it should be no surprise that they managed to stretch their 1st place lead over Meon by one further point. By my reckoning, unless someone from Meon can persuade Buxted that the final round of this year’s SIHFT is being held at Fort, the latter are looking very safe to take the 2017 Team Trophy, finally shoe-horning it from the long-term grasp of the Oakies. Iden Fern and MAD were today both a few people short of the 5 required to form a team, so benefitted from the ‘free draw’ rule for extra cards to achieve their totals. Total team scores and cumulative points won are :
    Club Round 9 Cumulative Points
    Buxted 262 104
    Meon Valley 256 97
    Horsham 243 73
    Oaks 242 92
    Maldon 229 69
    Iden Fern 222 63
    Ford 222 64
    Swallows 211 60

{FORD team members and scores updated 14/9/17

Safe shooting to everyone ahead of the final round of the 2017 SIHFT, which is in 3 weeks’ time on the 1st October when we return to the cow poo laden Downland at Mile Oak.

When I’ve finished crunching all the numbers, I will post here with a link to the updated overall individual tables. Keep your eyes peeled.

In the meantime, very best of shooting to all the SIHFTers, including those competing in next weekend’s open at Horsham or joining Swallows ‘at home’ or venturing up to the Midland Game Fair. The following weekend, a bunch of us may meet up at Cambridge for the UKAHFT on the 24th

    Thanks Fordies.
Great course and very testing weather (well done for arranging that). Really enjoyed this morning and so glad my back held up. Good to be back in the saddle.
    Best wishes,

Thank you Fordies for a great course, quite mentally tiring concentrating on every target as the wind was changing from one to the next.

Congratulations to Colin on his great score, also Abi and Chilly for showing us how it's done.

    See you all soon,

Was that more or less windy than the last Ford sihft? Maybe slightly less but still a very enjoyable course. Thanks to the Ford course setters for a great days shooting.

Well done Abi, Daisy, Chilly and Nick - great shooting.....

i think using the term "shoe-horning" was a very polite way of putting it Biggles .

The "mighty" Oaks have had their pants pulled down and been spanked like a naughty step child ! lol .
Still, saves them looking for more colours for the years they won .
Well done all the Buxted shooters today

    Peace and love .

    Russ..

    Eeerrr, yeah!...

Oh Russel my optimistic, delusional, flat earth thinking friend...... Winning by default is tantamount to cheating...

Do you play chess at home...by yourself and win?.. NO, 'cos you would be fooling yourself, a one horse race has one finisher... not a winner.

Now go back to your theory on flat earth and Simmo is actually an Alien.. (actually i haven't dismissed that yet..... or i haven't 'diss'd as much as he

has missed... i might say..) either way, once we start shooting again, you will have to find another theory, to occupy your

    imagination....

    UP The Oaks!!!

    Again ...Ouch !!!!

Mr Byford , what you mean to tell me the world isn't flat ??? well i never lol.

Your going to need bigger steel toe cap boots if your going to keep spitting your dummy out , if that thing hits your toes you'll never get back to shooting .

Buxted have some top shooters and to be fair deserve top slot, but!

The Oaks have nothing to prove...

It was getting a bit embarrassing to be fair, about bloody time!

    Team score update

Just received news that means I am about to update the opening post of this thread.

2 score cards from Ford members were handed in to the admin desk late on Sunday - solely (and understandably) due to those individuals staying out on the course to dismantle it.

1 of those cards should have been included in the Ford team score and increases their total by no less than 8 points.

For future ref, would any club members (or others) unable to get back to the admin 'tent' promptly please pass their cards to any other shooter heading in that direction.
