I'm looking into getting a Rapid 7 and selling my Hw 100 but I need to know the pros and cons before I commit. Any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers

To be fair in sub 12 I'd keep the hw100 unless your after the massive shot count.
Good mag, cocking system and generally accurate and consistent is what I've heard of the hw100. It also looks a lot nicer in my opinion.
I've got a Rapid on my FAC and it's great but if I wanted sub 12 I'd go hw100.
To be honest I can't fault it, I might just have to buy a Rapid and keep the Hw 100. Cheers for the advice pal.
I'm biased, I've only got 2 airguns left both Rapids .20 MFR & .25 FAC mk2.
The pros are that once sorted they're reliable, simple, sweet handling & reassuringly "chunky" and they just feel so right.
the cons are that because they're simple with interchangeable parts people tinker with them, and some people call reassuringly chunky "agricultural".
I feel the main draw back is lack of quick fill and pressure gauge, although in fairness these can be added.
A truly iconic rifle, lots in everyday use. I had three until one went last night
The thing is I've just got my FAC and was after a gun that could do both power sets. I was going to get an FX Impact but with all the bad reviews and the top end price tag its put me off. I was wondering if any of the Rapid lads do this.
Good in theory, in practice it's a royal pain in the backside,
re-zeroing never seemed to be the same twice when I had a 3 power FX Verminator &/or the best pellet at top power might not shoot as well at a lower power.
I just use my FAC for everything other than ratting/barn shooting.
Reason why you should buy a Rapid.
They are simple to work on.
Reason why you should not buy a Rapid.
They are simple to work on, so every man and possibly his dog too have had a go at "improving" it. Finding an unmolested one is hard. Finding an unmolested one in legal limits seems to be harder, I speak from experience here, bought a later model mark 1 with anti tamper on that was running at 14 ft lb with the anti tamper block still in place!
Don't. I was after a .20 from Blackpool Air Rifle for a while and it just happened that a chap I shoot with bought a .177 rapid 7. The gun felt solid but agricultural compared to my HW 100. No more accurate but inconsinstent and actually pretty rough. It put me off an dprobably saved me £750.00 for something I didn't need.
The FACs are supposed to very good but then you'd be buying a tool that in all probability is really well used. People who bought these guns didn't buy them to hang in the display cabinet.

Cheers lads
I've owned quite a few HW100's and Rapid's yet no Rapid I've ever owned (std or FAC) has ever been as easy, practical and dare I say accurate to use and shoot as the HW100 but guess what I now own and use..... 2 x Rapid's
In my opinion the HW100 is the BMW of the air rifle world, excellent Germany engineering that's practical, easy to use (although not the best looking) but it just doesn't have that "I want one" appeal that the Rapid has
By the way, I drive a company car and it's a BMW yet I'd love to change it for something a bit sportier and better looking but I won't because it's practical, powerful, economical and reasonable on the BIK tax
gauge and qf can easily be fited but I my self don't like them.the little gauges you find on guns are not that accurate any way plus give a few more places to leak.nothing wrong with removing bottle to fill.

I have both and wouldn't get rid of any of them.
My HW100 in .20 is a fantastic rifle, it's accurate, easy to shoot, functional and is well built, I don't worry about it going wrong they're easy to fix.
I have six Rapid's, they're iconic, beautifully engineered, do what it says on the box and easy to work on. All mine are deadly accurate, I did have to tune the barrel on my MK2 but that now shoots any pellet accurately.
For a day out in the field my first choice is the HW100 for the magazine and loading system, this is closely followed by the MFR in .20. For pest control, rats, ferals etc, garden pests the Rapid MK2 in .22 with Falcon Accuracy Plus is my go to gun.
A Rapid shoots just as well as any modern gun if not better, the HW100 just edges it due to the loading/mag but if I kept one gun it'd be a Rapid.
