Define "the bank". My Leupold 3-9 x 33 with LRT ret was about £250 used and the used Redfield of similar size was £110. Both are great! I got a BNIB sh Hawke Airmax 2-7 x 32 for £85, thats good and was good value.

I've had Bug blasters etc from our sponsor which were great for the money, but everything is relative.

Agree on the Leupold, and have always heard good things about the Bug Buster.

My favourites include any used Leupold compact (2-7x28, 4x28, 4x33) and the old Simmons 1.5-5x20. And the Beeman SS-1 and SS-2.

Also define "compact". These days, that might mean anything from a 2.5x20 to a 3-9x40.

Weaver do some nice compacts, but they tend not to be available over here.

    2nd hand leupold 3-9x33 efr
    Best small scope bar none
    If you can find one
The older gloss one is the better scope with a lifetime transferable warrantee

If your not fussy about mag and want the best ratting scope in the world a
Simmons white tail classic 1.5-5x20 was
Will focus from 3 feet away ..a packet of crisps is bigger and heavier
2nd hand only as no longer made around £80 for a good one

I had one of these and it was cracking scope. Very clever adjustable dovetail mounting system. I don't sadly have the scope anymore, but I do still hav\e the box and mount adjuster bars

Edit: Just ahd a look and can't find the bars at this time

Another vote for the Hawke Airmax 2-7x32 here. I've recently mounted one on my FAC Cricket and think it will make an excellent squirrelling combo.

    Burris Timberline 4.5-14x32

Useful magnification range, adjustable objective, uncluttered reticle
    holdover markings.

    Anyone agree?
