At sub 12fpe they will barely clear the muzzle I did a lot of testing when I first bought my .25cal Hatsan striker, once you go over around 25gn with a sub 12 there just isn't enough energy to accelerate the pellet within the barrel so they actually knock the ME right back as they exit so slow I'd expect under 340fps, maybe about 8.5-9fpe at the muzzle.
Thank you for your support and practical advice sir. At times some people think that we give opinions after having a bad curry, I can assure them that it is not so.

In the day when I had a .25 FAC Rapid I used 31grain Baracudas which weigh 31 grains and set the rifle at around 50 ft lb so it was shooting at 850 ft sec. As it had a fast flow not a regulator this power level dropped but the POI remained perfectly usable for around 3 magazines (36 shots) from a 280cc bottle.
Currently I have a .25 Patriot as a fun gun and which is fine with the 20 grain FTT. It runs at around 30 ft lb so around 820 ft sec. and is surprisingly smooth to shoot-unlike many I am told.
My rule-up to 30 ft lb use FTT after that try Baracudas. The JSB Kings are around 25 grains so sit nicely in the middle.
The problem with all high power .25 and .30 air rifles is that basically they do the same job as our old friend the .22LR which are much easier to manage and are cheaper to buy so I gave up on .25 high power air altogether.

Have you had a look at the recent price of the .22 pellets recently. The top make JSBs now retail about £13.50 for 500 on average. Compare that to the .22 CCI subsonics. There isn't much difference and the .22 LR guns are much cheaper than the air rifles.

Sorry but .22 subsonic are about £6.00 for 50 so more than 5x the cost of .22 JSB,
even though I only get 350 .25 kings in a tin for around that same £13.50, 350 .22subs would be £42.00

I'd call that quite a price difference I've got both & while they do overlap in use they each have a place the other doesn't fill.

Are they really that expensive? Last time I bought .22LR it worked out about 7p a shot. I'm out of touch with current prices as I still have quite a few left.
However the cost of running a .22 FAC air rifle isn't just the cost of the pellets. In addition to the cost of air fills, the hardware is quite a lot dearer too so I think it is fair to say that FAC air is more expensive shot for shot than .22LR.. Nevertheless I agree that both types of rifle have their place.

at .25 and low power, you are right weavy weight and the friction in the barrel results in typically lower fpe output with heavier pellets than with light pellets.

but generally speaking i would take a .25 million times than a .177, it is enough to look at BC coefficient, in .177 there are shocking, pellets lose speed so fast

A tin of 150 polymags in .25 is just shy of £14.00 and 350 JSB Kings are about £14.00 a tin on average.

I shoot less than 10 tins of .22 each year. I prefer to buy a couple of tins a go.

I know £100 is a lot to lay out but if you know a pal or in a club then going half on the 10tins is the way to go.
    Love my .25 Air.

From our esteemed JSR, off the bay £7.49, but it was back Mar 2016 so whether they still stock them is unknown.
I'd never seen before so at 19gn had to try them.
