Help with identifying unmarked air rifle

Can anyone identify this rifle please? I'm not entirely convinced it left the factory like this because of the different finish on the breech release device, plus the fact that it looks over-engineered.

I'm guessing that it's probably postwar and eastern European in origin.

    That doesn't look original.

Also why have such a meaty regular spring chisel/detent, if you are going to add the side release anyways ?

Other rifles I've seen with manual lock/release catches either have nothing else to augment the locking mech (hw35), or have something very light (HW55T)
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.
