Zooma thank you for your invite, but it is something i would try but some one else would have to design and make the stands!
Thats not a cop out,for my sins i am match secretary and already spend too much time doing entries, scoring,sending of scores and posting results,it would also appear that i am the unelected buildings/maintenace man as well! so it would be up to another club member to make something,i wonder where he is??
I still fail to see why the monthlies cant give us better test reports of available kit,a lot of us do BR so i suppose that we are super critical about the accuracy test
results,we all know that all that glitters is not gold!

I have designed a cheap and easy to make bar holder that can be made by anyone from basic plywood (or similar) in just a few minutes - and it is what we are using now in our club!

This bar holder can then be mounted onto any decent speaker stand (or similar).

Dead easy - and cheap!

I can send you some pictures if it would help and if you do decide to come over to see us you can also see them in action - or better still - try it for yourself!

You may even like to bring somebody with you to convince that making some would hardly take-up any of his (or hers) time

Now if our governing body or a county association were to show an interest it could become another competition? that would almost certainly attract some attention from those that have not heard about it.
Something else the monthly mags could show off? could be good for the readers and the companies that advertise their wares.
The NSRA could even do an article about it in the Target (the house magazine),but i dont hold out too much hope of that!

I have had no luck posting pictures here on the BBS but I would be happy to send them to you (or anyone else) who is able to do so as I agree that this could help to promote SARS here on the BBS and hopefully across the UK.

It is so simple to set-up, and I have designed a very simple bar holder that anyone can knock-up at little or no cost so there is so little to risk in trying it, and so much to gain - as we have found out!

SARS is great fun and has quickly become the most enjoyed discipline in our club - no surprise it is the same in Germany!

I am bumping this post to answer ongoing enquiries from those who have some interest in this "new" discipline so they can access the ISSF rules (via the link) and read the comments to date.

Our own humble MPL version of this discipline (same rules but shot at 6 yards in a postal league that is open to everyone) has just started its its second season with air rifle and its first season with air pistol.

Early days maybe, but well worth "having a go" and late entries can still be accepted now - no problem. You can enter by contacting PhatMan here on the BBS - not only for the supported series but the other free standing 6 yards MPL competitions too!

Its only a tenner to enter and we provide the 36 targets that you will need to complete the series (6 per month x 6 months).

If you can collect your targets from PhatMan or zooma thats all you pay. If you would like them to be posted then you need to add the cost of posting your targets to you as well.

We would like more chappies to get involved with the MPL competitions.

We would also like to encourage younger shooters to try these events - AmyNrLincoln has recently shot her first MPL cards, and has done well

We would encourage others who have children, who together, might like to try these disciplines.

It was good to "entertain" IJ at the club last night (RMTC) and to show him our Supported shooting set-up - and ( after 8.30) we were able to reintroduce him to the classic British 6 yard distance!

As we have always found, 6 yard shooting (on the appropriate NSRA 6 yard targets) is certainly no easier than shooting at 10 meters, and represents exactly the same challenges.

Unfortunately our adjustable stands were all set too tall for Ian to reach (!) but we will adjust one to suite him when he calls again.

It was nice to have you visit us again Ian - hope to see you again soon !

We are using these ISSF rules in our current MPL competition - but we "home shoot" at 6 yards rather than 10 metres.
