    / . S &. W 686 Vs . Colt . Peacemaker ( pellet version ) or . Remington 1875

How do they compare in terms of build quality , accuracy and velocity?

I know the cowboy guns are better looking but is that really the only advantage they have?

The Smith is by far the better gun.
    It can also be repaired.

I like my Cowboy guns but looks count for little at the range.

S&W 586/686: Good in SA or DA, 10 shot quick change magazine, decent fps, fully adjustable rear sight, interchangeable front sight, durable construction, ability to change barrels (4", 6", 8")

The old gloss black 586 version looks the best, the new matt ones not so much, the silver 686 need a silver/polished magazine to look half decent.

    Many thanks for the replies.

The smiths certainly looking pretty solid. And have a very good reputation for accuracy compared to the other popular umarex co2 guns.

Do they bear up well over time?

    They last well.
    Many years of reasonable use.

Too much force on the co2 loading lever can bend the loading mechanism but it can be straightened or replaced.
There is a little pin on the right side of the pistol which can fall out over time.
It holds the the pawl in so keep an eye on it.

I have a few of these and I particularly like me 8 inchers.

I have the Smith and Wesson 586/6" which ive now had for around 8 years and its still going strong. The accuracy is excellent, build quality is excellent and overall great fun.
