Soft point bullets for reloading....

can some kind person point me at the recent thread about buying soft point bullets on a Section 1 FAC - or not, as the case may be. Confusion still reigns, apparently, about just WHO can now buy soft point bullets or factory ammunition.

Reason is that my two older Mausers, both 7x57, were made back in the days when the 175gr bullet was a long round-nosed item, not a fancy pointy thing. The long so-called 'pencil' bullet, as used by the Boers during the 2nd Boer War, had almost all the length of bearing surface, unlike a modern-shaped spitzer. Both my rifles shoot these modern bullets like a lawn-sprinkler. Hence my query.

You can buy expanding bullets just the same as fmj`s.
No licence required.
The exception is some pistol bullets.

Some ranges still won't let you shoot it though. Check your range's standing orders or owners just in case.
