BBS upgrade Sunday Night - 24 hour delay

    Chaps

Plan is to update the software that runs the BBS tomorrow at 22:00.

It is likely to be down approx one hour. But of course things might not go to plan.

So time to think of something else to do Sunday late evening.

Thanks Andy - will this be a vBulletin update to the latest version? Will this come with new features?

    Cheers,
    Pete.

Several years ago the purveyors of this fine forum furnished us with a 'reputation' system.
Here's how it worked; you began with a certain amount of points. As your points amassed to meet certain quantities your reputation grew.
You could get 'rep' for helpful posts, and lose 'rep' for crappy posts. Others would give you positive or negative 'rep', and depending on the 'rep' of those giving you 'rep, your 'rep' went up/down accordingly.

For example, if a newb gave you 'rep' it would not be worth that many points. Perversely, if someone with lots of 'rep' gave you some 'rep', your would increase by a greater amount than what the newb gave you.

A very small minority of members abused the system, and the forum owner took it away.

The forum isn't as fractious as it was then, so maybe it's time to reconsider.

The 'rep' was displayed as green squares under your forum name.

Many thanks for the explanation. I'm a bit scared now, only because I don't know much. Sounds good though, even though 'the minority' ruined it - that's a real shame. Was it applied to all sections of The BBS or just General Airgun ?
