John has spares for the most common repairs (damaged heads due to dieseling/dry fire/vacuum fire, o-rings etc.) but not enough to make a new gun.
Whiscombes are also fairly straight forward to strip down and most capable gunsmiths should be able to maintain them, problem might arise due to spares availability such as pistons which are not so easy to make as I believe they are cast.
On the other hand the 12ftlbs guns are so under stressed (effectively components are at half stress of a normal 12ftlbs gun) that very little goes wrong with them, the more powerful FAC guns tend to have more problems due to higher stress on components...
