Opinions on a good choice of scope for my ward 800

    Hi all
This has probably been spoke about numerous times but just bought a ward 800 add on and am after a decent but reasonable priced scope to use it with. Looking to spend upto 200 on a 2nd hand scope. Wats your opinions on scopes to choose from in that sort of price range. Thanks a bunch

While I agree about the above Sidewinder being a very good choice, it will boil down to getting the balance between scope mag & illumination to give the best performance.

oh & find out if it's the old model HK4002 with the hard case or the newer 17200, the older HK4002 has got better glass/coatings for NV.

There have been several long threads in the NV section about the best scopes for add on NV.

Yes they are, I used to have one of them as well, but the 50mm objective can gather more light than a 42mm if NV add-on is a prime consideration.

No problem, My D700 gets most use on the HMR with a Sidewinder 4-16x50 & Ward B20 IR illuminator which gives 300yds spotting visibility depending on mag.
Stick on the B50 illuminator & I can either extend the range another 150yds or whack up the mag at the closer range.

    I also use it with 3-12 & 4-16 Mamba-lite's, 4-16 Vantage SF IR, & 6-24 Airmax 30 SF.

All work well, the Mamba's would be poorest needing more IR or less mag but still give 200+yds spotting, while both the Vantage & Airmax are only a short step behind the Sidewinder,
but you MUST have variable focus/px & a side wheel is way better & easier than AO.

Looking likely like a sidewinder now pal. Seems to be the choice of many and i like the recticle onit. Not sure how it compares to an mtc as they seem to be the other best choice. Only problem is nobody wants to part with a good scope. Hopefully a few people are getting new scopes for xmas and i can pick up a deal on 1. Cheers
