Does anyone know if Webley oil in cans were sold in the US in the 20s 30s?

Obviously looking to add to my Webley fetish.

I don't know. I live in Canada and the earliest Webley oil can that I have found is from the 1950s.

It is possible Webley oil cans were exported to the U.S. during the 1930s but a nice contemporary can would be a Stoeger marked one. I've been after one for some time but most that come up for sale seem to date from just after the war.

    Kind regards,

    John

Awesome, never would have thought of that. If I find two I’ll let you know!

Is this the can I’m after, seems more for powder guns?

I think that's the post war version. The prewar cans from the 1939 Stoeger catalogue are similar but also have two pistols illustrated above the two rifles on the front.

Yes please if you find two

    Kind regards,

    John

    Hi,

Out of interest, here are a couple of pictures of an original pre-war Webley 'Valvespout' oil can and associated cased Slant Grip Senior.

For some reason, it appears these canvas cased pistol sets are easier to find than the post-war rexine ones.
