    Am I a wimp?

Well, I had planned to have my first ever attempt at some light hearted pistol HFT tomorrow. However it is meant to be freezing rain all morning so I may stay at home and tinker with a few rifles instead. Am I wise or wet?

Get out there and enjoy yourself Rich .
You can tinker anytime , plenty of wet days to come .
I first tried pistol HFT earlier this year and it's great fun .
Just remember though , aim points are different to a rifle .
Believe it or not , we had someone beat us all using a bog standard crosman 2240 , wiped the floor with the Steyrs.

No, not a wimp at all mate.

If you feel that you're up for it tomorrow, go fo it.

If you'd rather stay home, warm and dry, do that.

Personally, I hate being cold and wet but, either way, you've got a gun day planned so, it looks like win/win to me

    All of the above.

I think I will stick my head out of the window at 7am and see how I feel about it. What I want to avoid is being put off pistol HFT by an adverse weather experience.

In that case, grab a hearty cooked breakfast and, go for it.

    Good luck.

    A saying much loved in the military;

There's no such thing as inclement weather, only incorrect clothing

Those that love it are usually sat on their arse in an office

There is no such thing as bad weather - just the wrong clothing.

    I'm not going though

In my previous life with every weekend off, I was always at the club on a Sunday.

Even if it needed 3 pairs of clothes on.

    Now I work every weekend.

I'm just home from shooting; travelled just over 80 miles today, mostly B roads (& less) only about 3" of snow & ice (-8C when I left home this morning); some roads not gritted; no issues for the Toyota Yaris diesel! Wife was going to church with her cronies so she took our Rav4; good job we never had any real snow. However, young Sam behind me got a little bit stuck coming out of the range on the dirt track; bit of coaxing and he managed out; got to make allowances for him; young lad, Vauxhall, wider lo-profile tyres; not the best things on snow & ice.

Have the right clothing then weather isn't a problem. The wilder the better, as its fun; well I think so..but then I'm a bad weather tourist and don't have to live it everyday.

But range work isn't fun if cold and in a horizontal blizzard. Sure train in all weathers but on ranges there is only so much that can be achieved when the weather is horrid. Once firers are more concerned about cold hands and damp down their neck then its time to pack up.
However, I've had great half days either before or after the storm has passed. Sometimes the hot tea and bacon butties before calling a stop is as good as it gets.
Lastly, geting stuck in the snow on some main road is not worth the risk. 4X4 on your vehicle is no use without the right tyres.
