    .
    Ok, here goes. Imho ...

    Best engineered: Service Mk.II

Best finish and build quality: the Mk.III

Best (personal choice) for nostalgia: the Vulcan

Best classic shooter: the Omega, and ...

    Best over-all all-rounder: walnut Brum-built Longbow.

The best looking gun I've ever owned?.......an Omega.

It's a crying shame the performance fell short of the German offerings.

Best engineered, but worst designed: Service Mk.II

Fixed that for you, Gareth. Lovely guns, the Services, but the whole design is flawed. A sort of 1920s Sterling HR81.

I assume you are talking about 0.22’s? I had a 0.177 Sidewinder Compact and it was soooo sharp. In fact it actually broke one scope. Never tried the Compact in 0.22 but in 0.177 it doesn’t even get close to my 0.177 VGlided 80

Webley springers (and almost all springers) are usually better in .22" than .177".

Absolutely. Have both and it is a fact. Just surprised about the statement that a Sidewinder Compact is better than a vglided HW80. I had one of each in 0.177 and the Compact didn’t come close. I can only assume the same in 0.22 the Compact wouldn’t come close in that case either!

Hi all and a Merry Christmas!
I'll probably be shot for posting this BUT I really love the power and accuracy of the UK .25 cal Patriot. I have sent an inordinate amount of time and effort into INCREASING both the power level and accuracy of my 2 Patriots; but it was fun. Yes I realise there are some other wonderful sub 12 fpe guns by Webley (I started with a Webley Junior over 55 years ago) such as the Mk3 which I loved. The Patriot is simple, built like a Russian tank and made to last a lifetime. Ok, it can be a little difficult to cock and some triggers are heavier than some others; BUT, does it move a big lump of lead! My more highly "tuned" version (spring is getting a little tired) imparts 796 f/s to the 25.4 grain JSB King and 910 f/s to H&N FTT. Best accuracy is with the JSB; less than 1" @ 50 yards off the bench.

    Cheers to all

The best webley ever made has to be the
Mark 1 rifle without it the others would never have existed. It was the first and the best
    .

I will use this thred as an excuse to show the pics of mine.......again :-)

Ok, so what's 'flawed' about the whole design, apart from it being a tad underpowered in it's standard form ?
