    Stock dilemma

I have a sweet shooting 97 in the right calibre that I got cheap, I've shortened it nicely and decided to keep it. The metalworks very faded so it's going off for reblacking, but what to do about the stock? Its just the beech sporter with a few dings and scratches and a badly fitted adjustable butt pad. I could get it refurbed cheap enough, but I have customs stocks on my 95 and 80 and don't want this to feel left out. Or should I get the HW77 laminate stock? I've been covetting that for a few years now, but it probably won't fit, same as the one thats fitted now.

    What do you reckon?

If you can get the '77 laminate stock to fit that would be a beauty. The 77 i've just bought is in the summer green finish. A beautiful stock for sure. The Autumn finish is also nice.

The laminate stock should fit just fine (as should the one you've got there)?

The only stock fit issues are normally with the early '77 actions going in later stocks.

I imagine you'll need an extra setback trigger blade for the standard or laminate factory stock?

A new CS stock is a poor investment. Want to buy my barely-used CS1000 for nearly what I paid for it?

Which '97 stock have you got there? There are at least 4 versions.

I bought my first weihrauch underlever this year and yes, you guessed it, it was the laminate '77. Personally I think they're stunning, especially the newer design. However, as I own two of your favouritest air rifles (HW35 and Walther Terrus synthetic) I doubt you'll give my opinion much thought
Seriously, there was a 97 action in a laminate stock on one of the FB pages - worth a gander.

When I said the laminate wouldn't fit, I meant it wouldn't fit me, not the gun.

    (penguin arms, remember?)

    I don't have a Cs1000, I can't remember why?

Did you refinish that? I thought it was just a stop-gap?

Yeah. I did put pics up, and when you saw it, you said you knew you'd let it go too cheap. Finished it blond with black stippled panels and grip. The gun I got off you is now sitting in a Warren Edwards stock. The old stock will be going on the gun (polished tx) I'm doing now (which had the warren edwards stock on) Confusing int it?
