Thanks, as it's a very interesting question I went back to the HW-database (link once more below), sorted the models and found a heap of information concerning HW77 out of more than 2k entries.

This first line shows the entry I mentioned in my post above and seems to be incorrect.

To all the bystanders - this does not mean that ser.no. 1 000 094 is the VERY FIRST one put on the market. It's only the first registered HW77 in this compilation. There might very well be even some earlier guns.

This was confirmation of delivery date by HW

Yes it is. The TX, ProSport, Walther etc were just refinements, and if you refine a 77 then you won't need one of those... It has a purer, more workmanlike character than the later rifles and the Mk 1s and Mk 2s are much prettier than Air Arms rifles.

It can do anything, FT, HFT, use it as a hunter or fit a German market weaker spring and a diopter and use it for bell-target or even 10 meters, scoped it makes a great long range plinker - Polo mints at 35 yards. You can even hang it on the wall.
