Put an ickle stick in the piston and measure from the front to the rear. Divide that by the wire gauge and you will know how many coils will fit.

I did have a Crosman 766 when I was a kid, but it was a throwaway 'bridge' gun designed to get a kid ready for a .22 rimfire and as such had a lifespan of 6 months use.
I do like the quality American stuff, that is why I have a Williams aperture sight and a Wood & Water black walnut custom stock on my HW30S. I also had a Marlin 39M .22 rimfire for a while, that was a tack-driving walnut and blue steel lever action, very nice.
