    Opinions welcome

Not quite sure about what to do about a recent purchase of a classic air pistol I made on the forum, and I would welcome any thoughts on the following situation.

The pistol was not in an assembled condition when advertised, but the seller noted that all the parts were included. The problem I have is that when the pistol arrived, some critical parts were missing.

I have contacted the seller twice, but has not replied to either PM. To buy the replacement parts will cost around £50, not a small amount on top of the purchase price - yes I can afford it, but I really feel that I have been stitched-over on this.

There is a principle about this that aggrevates me; this is the sort of thing I would be cautious about on gun* or freeads, but not from a fellow member of this friendly and well run forum.

I do not want to get into some form of slanging match over the forum, so I would welcome an suggestions from other members on what is the best thing to do next.

    Cheers,

    Mark.

As the pistol was purchased on this forum, and the seller has not responded to your PM's, contact the moderators. They should be able to verify if your PM's have been received, and take whatever action they see fit.

Excellent advice. I'm sure it would benefit other forum members to learn the final outcome of your unfortunate experience.

    Which moderator would be best?

The ones at the start of the sales section all seem to have disappeared from the forum!

The only other mod I have found is Rickenbacker, no response from him yet after two days...

    Yeah, sorry mate.
Should have replied to you by now.
I've had some phone and internet troubles myself for the past few days.
Do you want my reply in public or private?

FWIW Mark, I think that if an original ad said all parts were present and they weren't, at very least the seller should offer you a full refund, plus whatever postage you have to pay to return the incomplete pistol.

But I would caution against rushing to judgement. Sometimes people go away just after completing a sale and are unobtainable. Hopefully Phil or one of the other mods will help resolve the problem.

Hi Phil, private would be fine with me, I don't want to get into naming and shaming if someone has done something wrong or made a mistake.

    If its this one

FWB65 - really do not know how to describe this, the top half is almost complete and fully functional with a recent breech seal, the bottom trigger bit is complete. The trigger group from the spare contains the rest of the missing parts. No guarantees.
I would like £100 for everything delivered to any UK address. Would prefer BT but PM me with your preference. Thanks and have a happy New Year.
It does say almost complete and no guarantees, which parts are you missing I have a few FWB bits which might help you out?

Hi Richard, the wording was unclear, so I sent a PM to confirm what was included, the seller advised that all the parts for the trigger group were included.

The main bits that are missing are:

    1600.162.1
    1600.164.1
    1600.167.1 and ideally 1600.165.1

They are a bit specialised, but it would be great if you could help.

    Cheers,

    Mark.

    Parts Update

Since yesterday, I have been offered all the parts (except one tiny spring) at a reasonable price by a very fine gentleman from Shropshire.

As the pistol in question is on my bucket list, I really want to keep it and get it working rather than send it back and try to get a refund. Apart from the missing bits, it is in very good condition; I just wish the seller had taken a little more time to be accurate about what he was selling.

I am resisting the temptation to go into FULL rant-mode about this, but a bit of compensation from the seller would not go amiss.

    Not holding my breath though…
