    TX200 - Mk2 piston into a Mk3?

I'm trying to go the short stroke route on my Mk3 HC

Should a Mk2 Piston fit a Mk3 Compression Tube and work?

I assumed that because it has a longer latch rod, it should engage with the trigger sear sooner that a Mk3 - I also understand that the ABT might not engage.....this rifle is for target work only and not humped around the field.

I've tried it but it won't Cock.

Have I made a school boy error.......???

    Cheers Steve

    Straight swap.
You will need to make sure that there are no washers or top hat weights stuck in the end of the mk2 piston, this is common.
You will need to use a mk2 spring as well.
From memory it will have one or engagement click if mk2 piston is in mk3 comp tube..
    Then crono.
Make sure trigger is not already engaged..

Did you cock the trigger before reassembly and forgot to pull the trigger before trying to cock ?

The mk2 piston as said above needs a mk2 spring (or similar). They're shorter with thicker coils.
The mk3 spring should work but not make enough power as it wont compress enough

No need to cock the trigger . that's the hw rekord trigger.
Needs a MK2 spring i seem to recall, probably reason for not cocking is possibly coil bound or piston weight jammed inside piston.
Piston wont travel as far so bear trap will work but only one click. cocking lever won't travel as far either.

    Hi

Although I ordered a Mk 2 spring - it was the same length as the V-Mach that I had fitted some time ago.
    No Piston weight...

    Cheers

IIRC the standard MK2 spring was the same part number as the MK3 FAC spring.

Or was it the other way around?!

Count number of coils, can be same length and wire size but if more coils it'll not be able to compress as much (or if same number of coils but thicker wire)

Mk 2 spring is thicker gauge and has compressed coils at one end . make sure it will cock without the spring fitted to check guide and top hat clash .

Yup, exactly. One ABT notch works fine.

What you're describing is the setup I use in my HFT gun.
I'm using mk2 spring and guides

If no top hat in piston, the piston should weigh about 230,235 g as long as its not been lightened..
pistons will have about 107-110mm of spring room measured from rear piston skirt, the bearing end down inside of piston to back face of the front of piston..
I have put mk2 piston in mk3 comp tube running mk2 spring with no problems..
    Hope this helps

Joust a thought, compare end of latch rods to see if any difference. Also check if latch rod runs true, some can be off by quite a bit. Both will make it difficult cocking trigger without a good tug.

    Many thanks to you all.

I will check out the latch rod profile....

I will also source a Mk 2 spring from elsewhere and start again - I already have a Mk2 top hat and spring guide soused from the nice Mr Bum.

I've built the Mk2 piston using one of Mr Popes seals...which have worked for me on all of my other AA Tx/ProSport derivatives.

    Cheers

    Steve
