    scope problems

right , if just got hold of a nikko stirling gold crown 3-12x50 tactical ao scope

problem is , even with the elevation turret wound right out , its still shooting too low , at 10 meters its a bout an inch down . the turret works as winding it down lowers the point of impact .

its not the rifles or mounts, ive checked , its 100% something up with the scope

anyone know if it can be fixed or why its doing it ?

How do you know that the mounts are ok , Have you tried swopping the mounts round , quite often in cheaper mounts there is a difference in the engineering of each individual mount resulting in your problem which can be sorted by just shimming the scope, in your case it would require shimming on the rear mount. In the past i have used alluminium cans cut into strips to shim scopes.

As above, it's not THAT uncommon to have to shim mounts.

i have 3 rifles, artemis m16, hw 97 and webley raider 12 , all of them are scoped up and firing bang on, loads of room for adjustment high and low, i put the nikko on each of these without moving the mounts and it fired low on every one of them with elevation maxed out . as i said , ive checked

And if the turret adjustment works as you said, shimming it will work. The alternative is to get it looked at (Probably not worth it) or bin it

Sounds like shim it, adjustable mounts, get it fixed or bin it , I presume it's a second-hand scope.

A lot of cheap and dear scopes come like that, totally variable from one scope to the next.

am just gonna bin it, its not worth even trying to shim as its that far out . ive been refunded and seller said to just bin it even though i offered to return it, which makes me think he knew it was dodgy

It's surprising what the thickness of a coke can will do, just try it.

I know I said bin it but I'll take it off you for postage and a bit extra for your trouble? PM me if interested. Cheers

I have used 2 or three shims before, perhaps someone has forced the adjuster, or maybe parallax is the problem.

10m is very short range & I'd expect a scope zeroed at 25-30m to be an inch low at 10, so I'd try to zero it at a decent range,
I'd also try adjusting the windage to see if there's a bit more vertical movement to the internals to one side or the other of it's current setting.

No one's asked yet so I will.

What rifle ? Some springers are known for barrel droop.

Is the rifle fitted with a silencer ?
