I get the attraction of these 2240/50s - I had a few. Easy to swaps bits around, play with, modify, but when the total invvestmnet gets to more than say £200, you can buy all manner of decent secondhand PCPs for that (e.g. Ultra, spitfire, AGS), and the ratty will just never come close to their performance - plus you will lose a load of money when the time comes to sell it on. So £50 for a trigger ? That I just don't get. Fitting a steel breach, lengthening the probe, sorting the TP, sure. But £50 for a trigger on a £100 gun ? nah...
Last year I paid £120 for a secondhand AGC PCR-1. Ugly stock, sure. but 35+ shots at full power, no temperature issues, 1/2" at 30 yards with most ammo (my kids use it for plinking, so I've never really done much pellet investigation), two stage trigger, and nice and light. You could spend 3x that price modding a ratty to get less performance.
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.
