When I was working in Hurstpierpoint last year I had several visits over there after work as it was only 15 minutes away. They stock a large amount of the Crosmans.
Did you manage to get across today and treat the little one, Mike?

We discovered today that the reason he's been feeling crap is because he has chicken pox . Poor little bugger is all polka dot today. I had a ride over to the surplus store on the bike and had a bit of a look to see whats available and I reckon following your advice will probably go for a crosman at some point. They certainly do some cracking little lightweight rifles for juniors. I also came across a really nice Baikal Makarov C02 pistol in nickel finish which was stunning (for me). They are more or less built using the exact same parts as the real model in the same factory. Serious weight and quality so might save up for one in the future. Also somehow the 68 mile round trip doubled on the bike. Not sure how that happened.

The poor little lad. He'll be under the weather for a while then, Mike. But at least that's the old chicken pox out of the way then.

Glad you managed to get across and have a look. Nick (Tinbum) used to be a bit of a fan of those Makarovs. Not sure if he still has one. They do look nice. The Umarex Walther PPK/S is nice too.

Not sure how that happened re the trip mileage. It just kinda happens on a bike doesn't it?

    Absolutely brilliant, thanks, matey.

You know how I said it just felt "right" when I first walked in? Well it does and, if anything, continues to strengthen. I'm happy for the first time in years and actually look forward to going to work. The people are great, the customers nice, the back-up and facilities are awesome. The product is great and the training and resource behind you is the best there is.

Really, really, really happy. Wished I'd done it years ago. When I started at the old place, you just knew it was wrong. Dodgy, leg-lifting ethic, pathetic attitude to Aftersales and customer service, pathetic attitude to staff etc etc. God knows how I stuck it for so long (just the passion for the Red things, I guess), but it now feels like a huge, huge weight has been lifted.

There are NO negatives with the new job, only positives, and can only get better as my understanding of the product and systems improves.

    Loving it!

The car's packed ready to come home. Due to exuberant wine shopping I need to decide who I like most; Kerrianne or the dogs?

I'm really excited to get back as I should have my stumpy HW97 action back from Paul Chell, freshly blacked. The woodwork for my Drulov rifle has been refinished by Andy (Blackmax) and I have a bow and arrow to add to my garden demolition equipment!
God rest ye jelly mental men

Poor little lad but best he gets it out of the way now. I never had chicken pox, measles or mumps as a child, my brothers and sisters did though. I did get shingles 2 or 3 years ago which I believe you can only catch from chicken pox if you haven’t had the pox yourself ? Something like that anyway. I hope the littlun gets through it quickly mate.

That sounds perfect mate and it will make a whole difference to how you feel away from work too. Now you just need to sort out the man cave and chase up that ratting permission - Eutopia !

    Absolutely, Pete.

At the old place you got alternate Sundays off, here it's EVERY Sunday!

    So that's 26 days a year extra off.....nearly a month!

One other bonus spin-off is less mileage and wear and tear. Two Sundays a month equated to a minimum of 110 miles (depending on the route). Currently, most days I do ten miles a day less, too = 200 miles per month. There are some road works currently on my favourite route, necessitating a diversion. It's open at the weekend, though. Once those roadworks have gone, that's 14 miles a day less. So, all in all, on a four week cycle, that's nearly 400 miles a month less!

At some point in the future, we will re-locate. The current premises are lovely, but the MD wants to re-locate to larger, more prominent premises. This may end up even being in Sheffield, upping the mileage again. It could be a good 18-24 months away, by which time I'll be even more settled, so no drama.

Everyone I've seen since my move has commented on how much happier and less stressed I am, so it's had a huge beneficial effect on well-being. As said previously, I now feel really lucky to actually have a job that I enjoy and look forward to going to work.
