    Sounds most excellent, Pauly.

I once thought I'd give baler twine a try as a doggy lead when Bremby was younger for the full on "Mr Greengrass effect"!!!

No good. She used to pull like a good 'un when she was younger and it'd cut your mitts to bits!

Its funny how that happens. Its made me aware of different farms etc locally that I may approach with regards to getting myself a permission.

Had a nice night out in the fields but not very fruitful bag-wise. Popped off a couple of pigeons in a hay barn, saw a few skitty rats tearing about but nowt that would stand still for me I did enjoy a couple of hours stalking in on a few rabbits. I spotted them on the NV some 70 to 80 odd yds out but each time I got within about 40 yds they legged it. The fields are very much a quagmire what with all the rain and the horses tramping around so it was impossible to walk quietly without squelching and splashing ! I enjoyed the stalk though.

You should Mike, you really should, just do it, go and ask. I read from people on here who live in ‘the country’ and struggle to find permissions and I wonder if a lot of the areas are already spoken for ? Maybe it’s because there is a lot of ‘competion’ from others who shoot due to there being more shooters in the countryside willing to shoot live quarry ?? I don’t know, just a thought. Very very few of the guys at my club/range would be into shooting vermin or pests - they just don’t like it or, ‘get it’. Townies just love feeding pigeons and squirrels I’m definitely in the minority when it comes to shooting with most people I know.

So, I suppose what I’m saying is, given you are living in a ‘towny’ area, I reckon any offer of free pest control (as a non-professional) will be better received than you might think.

Your avatar appears to have changed a little once more, Pauly.

Glad you enjoyed your evening out. As you've said so many times in the past, it's not about the size of the bag, it's just being out there that is the magic part.

I'd sorta pulled the plug on that, Pete.

But, we can carry it on if you like. Worthy nomination there and no shortage of candidates coming up, too.

Just got back from a meeting at school, then got to get down town for the usual Wednesday bits, but then have to be somewhere well out of town in the afternoon, so no Plinky or fettling time today.
