I'm working on making a "rocket" out of pvc electrical conduit to slot over the potato cannon pipe at the moment. If i can get it to seal sensibly so that the cannon doesnt blow it apart i reckon it could launch a fair distance.

As with most things in life, length is the key! A long dart will gain more speed, stay stable and fly further.

I reckon with the enough doughnuts as incentive we could launch a junior bongo across the hollow in the manner of a circus daredevil. Amazing Grace the human cannonball

As with most things in life, length is the key! A long dart will gain more speed, stay stable and fly further.

I reckon i'm going to go for about 2 feet in length, fix a point on somehow and glue some fins on. We went to the Herstmonceux science centre last year and they demonstrated something pretty similar but made from cardboard tube. It flew amazingly well

I'm eyeing up the kitchen foil and clingfilm tubes at home to make sure they dont get binned. They make great rocket bodies. We used to make some great stuff when i was a lad. A popular one was a balloon with mehtylated spirit soaked string hanging out of it pumped up with hairspray. We used to let the ballon start floating away, light the string and run like mad lol

Brilliant, love it, never mind being a lad, I’m definitely gonna have a go at that one. Does hairspray give the balloon ‘lift’ like helium
