I had a good blast with the 77 and the Theo Evo yesterday afternoon. Also an indoor session with the 75. Great fun

When I got in from work last night one of Sarah's friends was here. She used to live in Australia and shot guns there. A couple of years ago I let her have a go with the HW40 and she loved it. When I saw her last night I asked if she might want the Vigilante and she said "yes", as she'd love to shoot again and her son and step-son have also expressed an interest.

So, today, the whole family came round. Gave them a safety talk and then demonstrated the Vigilante....gassing it up, de-gassing, loading, safe practice, sight picture, trigger control etc. They have a decent sized back garden and safe backstop already in place as one of the lads practices archery there. I think they're going to love it as a family pastime.

As they also like camping, Sarah also suggested that they ought to come along to The Bash and they seemed quite keen. So, fingers crossed, mum, dad and four youngsters may come along. I'll keep reminding and cajoling. Dad used to have an air rifle years ago and seemed keen on getting back into it.

I let them have the Vigilante at a very fair price. More than the tight-arse RFD wanted to give me the other week, but substantially less than the new price. So they have a fun little toy that can provide endless hours of quality family fun and, hopefully, some new recruits to the airgunning World and Boinger Bash fold.
They'll have fun with that, become hooked on airguns and be skint forever more lol

I've just been into my local gun shop to pick up some lead and they have a rather nice Air Arms Mistral for sale up for £270 with scope. I'm tempted as its 1986 and looks to have had little use. What are your thoughts chaps. Cheers

I do like a sidelever and I had a few AA ones over the years. What scope is on it?

It's a 3-9 x 40 Nikko Stirling game king. Probably around 75 quids worth at best I reckon

I really do like Sidelevers but unfortunately, as a southpaw, I simply cannot get accustomed to their right-handed side lever. As a trial, I bought an Airking last year and sold it recently due to the awkwardness (to me) of cocking and handling.

I do own both a FWB300S and a 300SU with left hand stocks but still with the right-handed sidelever, however due to the fact I don't shoot them much and the "weak 6 lb pull", I can tolerate them primarily because they are such beautiful, well engineered air rifles !

I know how you feel John, although I’ve never felt the need to own a side-lever, I have tried a few at my range and being a lefty makes it all feel very awkward.

Hunting lets say, would be bearable due to the fact you would only take a few shots if any but range work is a different matter with shot after shot. !
    I know, I tried it !
