The full length is too front heavy.
The hc puts most of the weight back into your shoulder.
The hc is developed from the full length harder to cock but just as accurate.

I stand corrected. A few bad experiences have made me leery of full power springer carbines in .177.

Yep, I'm with you there, as if the rifle is too light, the snap and recoil at full hop in .177 can de dreadful, but nestled around the 11.2ft.lb Mark, the TX200HC .177 is heavy, yes, and a little harder to cock than the full length version due to the physics of the shorter under lever, true, but is without a doubt a total joy to shoot ... Bugger. Am now wishing I hadn't sold my lovely TX200HC .177 last Autumn !!!

Concerning HFT and FT this country is a desert.
I did some HFT / never tried FT - no serious competitions just alone or with a bunch of lads around here.
So my experience is more than limited.
My TX200HC .177 is fine but runing FAC now.
I shot some HW97K .177 but don't own one at the moment.
My favourite sub-12fpe is a LGU .177 with excellent accuracy.
BUT I have a recently aquired a very nice s/h HW77 .177 25 mm system (1993) with the sporter stock.
It's shooting quite fine but I'm afraid the spring might be broken. So far didn't look inside but will give it a proper tune as soon as temperature will rise.
Looking desperately forward how it will cope with the LGU.
So any advise for the HW77 please.
The most popular is the HW 97 followed by the TX200 .

I've heard the 98's a cracker for HFT. Funnily enough I've just ordered one
